Aegros was proud to attend and be a sponsor of the BioProcessing Network’s 2022 Conference, held 18-20 October at Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour Sydney.
Around 200 delegates attended the 15th annual conference, to meet, exchange ideas, and to hear from postgraduate students, leading academics, and researchers in the field of bioprocess manufacture and research.

The conference dealt with the production of materials from living sources, manufacturing processes for plasma derived medicines, stem cell research, and vaccine production.
Attendees heard from a range of presenters on these and related topics. There was also a series of scientific and technical posters on display, showcasing emerging research and breakthroughs in bioprocessing from present and future thought leaders.
Chrys Maodis, Aegros Fractionation Division R&D Manager, presented results from the use of the patented Haemafrac® system in the manufacture of Covimmune™ – a hyperimmune against Covid-19. The presentation also included detailed analyses of the effective of Covimmune™ against the various mutations of the Covid-19 virus. The Aegros presentation was very well received and Aegros representatives received lots of follow up questions and interest in where we are headed with this technology.
A very special part of the Conference for Aegros was our sponsorship of the Joel Margolis & Perry Manusu Prize for best research poster presented by a student. The prize of $1,000 and a trophy was won by Thanh Huyen Phan of Sydney University, for her poster: Advancing the quality control of extracellular vesicles using multiscale characterisation.
Congratulations Ms Phan.

Aegros has long been a dedicated collaborator with academic and industry institutions, and by sponsoring this student award, Aegros is able to continue to encourage the next generation of scientists.
The Joel Margolis & Perry Manusu Prize is named after the two scientists who initially invented the HaemaFrac®.
