Aegros was honoured to welcome a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to its newly completed Macquarie Park facility on 19 June 2026. This marked a significant moment in Aegros’ international engagement as the first visit by a foreign government to our newly completed plasma fractionation plant.
Led by Vietnam’s Minister of Health, Madame Dao Hong Lan, the delegation represented the breadth of Vietnam’s health and scientific leadership – including senior representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV), the Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No1 (VABIOTECH), leading Vietnamese Hospitals and Universities, as well as the Vietnam Embassy in Australia. It was an extraordinary gathering of expertise and institutional commitment, and one that Aegros was proud to host.
The visit comprised a comprehensive fractionation facility tour, followed by a detailed technical presentation on our novel Haemafrac® technology – and an in-depth question and answer session. Delegates engaged closely with Aegros’ executive leadership team, exploring both the technological and economic case for Haemafrac® as an alternative to conventional plasma fractionation – and how it can strengthen health systems by enabling national sovereignty of plasma medicine production.
Vietnam currently imports 100% of its plasma-derived medicines – including immunoglobulins, albumin, and hyperimmune products. The World Health Assembly has identified plasma medicine self-sufficiency as a health priority for all member states. Several critical plasma medicines are also classified as essential medicines by the World Health Organisation.
With its simplified design and highly differentiated fractionation process, Haemafrac® requires substantially lower capital requirements, has faster build timelines, lower operational costs, and delivers superior plasma protein yields. These advantages mean national (sovereign) plasma medicine production can be a realistic possibility for many countries – countries that were historically unable to justify the immense investment of traditional fractionation approaches.
“We were deeply honoured to receive the Minister and her distinguished delegation at our facility,” said Damian Thornton, CEO and MD at Aegros. “Vietnam is a country with extraordinary scientific talent, a rapidly developing healthcare system, and a genuine commitment to the health of its people. This visit was an important opportunity to explore how Aegros and Haemafrac® technology can support Vietnam’s ambition to build a stronger, more self-sufficient health system.”
Aegros is committed to working with governments, health institutions, and commercial partners to make plasma medicines more accessible to patients who need them most, wherever they are in the world.
